This study examined the internal structure and internal consistency reliability of the Prison Group Climate Instrument (PGCI), by means of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and reliability analyses in a sample of 195 minors (92.8% male; aged 14–24; M = 17.6, SD = 1.52) in Kosovo and Albania. Findings showed an acceptable model fit for a three-factor model consisting of three correlated factors with good internal consistency reliability: Support (ω = .93), Growth (ω = .86), and Atmosphere (ω = .83), rather than the original four-factor model. The repression subscale did not fit participant’s perception, possibly due to cultural values favoring authority and respect for the rules. PGCI can be used to assess and monitor living group climate from the perspective of rehabilitation, facilitating future scientific research and continuous improvement of forensic residential care in these countries.
