Geert Lovink
Geert Lovink is a media theorist, internet critic and author of Zero Comments (2007) and Networks Without a Cause (2012). Since 2004 he is researcher in the School for Communication and Media Design at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) where he is the founding director of the Institute of Network Cultures. His centre recently organized conferences, publications and research networks such as Video Vortex (the politics and aesthetics of online video), Unlike Us (alternatives in social media), Critical Point of View (Wikipedia), Society of the Query (the culture of search), MoneyLab (bitcoins, crowdfunding & internet revenue models) and digital publishing strategies. He is also a media theory professor at the European Graduate School (Saas-Fee).
Arnout de Vries
Arnout de Vries is onderzoeker en adviseur op het gebied van social media en maatschappelijke veiligheid bij TNO. Na zijn studie industrieel ontwerpen en innovatiemanagement onderzocht hij bij KPN Research al virtual communities voor iemand ervan had gehoord. Vanaf 2000 werkte Arnout aan mobiel internet, de revolutionaire ontwikkeling van dat moment. In 2003 werd KPN Research ondergebracht bij TNO. Daar ontwikkelde hij een brede visie op de de rol die IT in de maatschappij van morgen zal spelen. Samen met gedrags- en organisatiewetenschappers en briljante techneuten zet Arnout expertkennis om in concrete toepassingen.
Jason R. Baron
Jason R. Baron is a lawyer at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP in Washington, D.C., and former Director of Litigation at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration. A prolific speaker and author on the preservation of electronic documents, he also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, and as Co-chair of the Information Governance Initiative, a vendor neutral consortium and think tank. Mr. Baron previously served as a trial lawyer and senior counsel at the Department of Justice. In those capacities, he played a leading role in the government’s adoption of electronic recordkeeping practices and acted as lead counsel in landmark cases involving the preservation of White House email. He has served on the Board of Directors of ARMA International, as Co-chair of The Sedona Conference’s working group on e-discovery, and was a founding coordinator of the NIST TREC Legal Track. Mr. Baron is a recipient of the prestigious international Emmett Leahy Award for Outstanding Contributions and Accomplishments in the Records and Information Management Profession. He is prominently featured in the recent documentary film, The Decade of Discovery, which follows events that unfolded between 2002 and 2012, when he took on a quest to find a better way to search White House email. Most recently, he has appeared in numerous media outlets, including on Good Morning America, NBC Nightly News, CNN, MSNBC, and has been quoted in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall St Journal Washington Wire, and TIME Magazine, all in connection with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server. Mr. Baron received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Wesleyan University, and his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law.
From E-Discovery to Information Governance
In the last half decade the manner in which complex litigation is practiced in the U.S. has changed dramatically, with the introduction of new forms of analytics and algorithms that assist lawyers in searching for electronic evidence. Now lawyers are beginning to use these new methods in other contexts, including in answering legal questions arising out of big data sets. Mr. Baron will offer his insights into these emerging trends, in connection with the screening of the movie The Decade of Discovery.
John Jansen
John Jansen is een ervaren ondernemer die zijn loopbaan is gestart als bibliothecaris in Zeeland. In 1987 startte hij in een commerciële functie bij Geac Computers Inc, in die tijd wereldleider in bibliotheeksystemen. Sindsdien heeft John nooit meer de ICT industrie verlaten. Hij begon in 1997 Stream IT Company en verkocht dit bedrijf in 2000 aan Pallas Athena. Hij werd toen aandeelhouder en mededirecteur van dat bedrijf, actief op het gebied van BPM software. In 2011 werd Pallas Athena gekocht door Lexmark. John is toen gestart met PageFreezer Europa. Daarnaast is John ook actief als adviseur van jonge bedrijven die dankbaar gebruik maken van zijn 25 jarige ervaring op het gebied van marketing en verkoop in Europa.
Dr. ir. Hans Henseler
Dr. ir. Hans Henseler is lector Digital Forensics en E-Discovery bij Hogeschool Leiden en partner bij Tracks Inspector. Hij studeerde informatica aan de TU Delft en is gepromoveerd op het onderwerp Artificiële Neurale Netwerken aan de Universiteit Maastricht. In 1992 heeft hij de afdeling Forensisch Computeronderzoek opgericht bij het Nederlands Forensisch Instituut en was hij vicevoorzitter van de International Organisation on Computer Evidence. Van 1998-2000 gaf Hans Henseler leiding aan de divisie Informatiesystemen van TNO-TPD, gespecialiseerd in kennismanagement, taaltechnologie, beeldverwerking en logistieke informatiesystemen. Van 2000-2006 was hij technisch directeur van ZyLAB Technologies waar hij verantwoordelijk was voor de ontwikkeling, testen en support van ZyLABs E-Discovery suite. Van 2006-2010 was Hans Henseler director Forensic Technology Solutions bij PWC en voerde nationale en internationale projecten voor E-Discovery en Financiële Data Analyse uit.
Henk Alles
Henk Alles is oprichter en managing director van Infolution. Hij is expert op het gebied van productinnovaties en heeft meer dan 25 jaar ervaring in de IT business. Henk won in 2006 de Innovation Award Knowledge Management. Zijn bedrijf Infolution is gespecialiseerd in Web 3.0 Search & Retrieval Technologies.
