Finding housing yourself
If you choose to search for housing yourself we do advise you to start a.s.a.p. Because there is a shortage of affordable accommodation in the Leiden area, finding a room can be very difficult and time-consuming.
Housing Anywhere
UAS Leiden is a partner of HousingAnywhere.com, the international student-to-student housing platform. Students who are coming from abroad to Leiden can find & book a student room on Housing Anywhere. The rooms on this platform are offered by our students that go abroad for an exchange period or internship. Using the platform itself is completely free for you as a student. When you make a concrete booking, an administrative fee will be charged as a part of Housing Anywhere’s secure booking system.
Rental contract
In the Netherlands it is common to sign a rental contract if you rent a room or apartment. You will always sign a contract for a specific period of time (for example six months, a year, etc.). UAS Leiden advises you not to rent a room or apartment without signing a contract. You should always read the conditions in the rental contract carefully and never sign a rental contract without making sure you understand what it says.
