Heard and seen
At Leiden University of Applied Sciences, we see who you are, what you can do, and what you need. We also recognise what our society requires. Bearing this in mind, students, teachers, researchers, and professionals come together to shape the future.
Leiden University of Applied Sciences
The Dutch education system features two types of institution of higher education: research universities and universities of applied sciences. Leiden UAS is a university of applied sciences.
We offer Bachelor's and Master's programmes, exchanges programmes, and (post-graduate) courses and we perform applied research in a variety of domains ranging from healthcare and social work to economics, and from technology to education. Our education is focused on competencies, offers freedom of choice and challenges students to realise their potential. We encourage and support students in developing their knowledge and skills so that they are well prepared for their future careers.
With an eye on tomorrow
We are a modern educational institution and learning community, more than just a transmitter of knowledge, but also a place that shapes our students. This is where lifelong development is the starting point. In this way, we aim to equip our students with all the tools they need to make a valuable contribution to society.
Our exchange possibilities
The ECHE and Erasmus+
Following the submission of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and based on our latest performance within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, Leiden University of Applied Sciences has been successfully assessed by the National Agency for Erasmus+ (Nuffic). The European Commission has therefore decided to award Leiden UAS with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for the period of the Erasmus+ Programme which runs from 2021-2027.
Exchange programme at Leiden UAS
Leiden UAS has cooperations and agreements with institutions within and without the confines of the European Union and Erasmus+ programme. All students from foreign institutions with which we have an exchange agreement, are welcome to come to Leiden UAS to participate in our Exchange programme.

Applied research

The four main areas (in Dutch) of interest for applied research programmes are Youth, Health, Life Science and Sustainable Organisation.
