Debby van der Voort
After having worked more than 10 years in preparatory vocational education, Debby started in 2012 on the transfer program Remedial Education at the University of Amsterdam, whereupon she completed a master’s degree in Remedial Education cum laude in 2014. Her master’s dissertation consisted on validating the “About Me” questionnaire for students in special secondary education; a questionnaire about general self-esteem, attitude to school and identification with school, family and age peers. The reciprocal influence of the learning climate, the teacher and the identity of the student are key in Debby’s doctoral research (University of Amsterdam). Prof. Geert Jan Stams (University of Amsterdam) supervises this research with the assistance of dr. Peer van der Helm.
