More information about
Terminating your education midway
Do you want to terminate your education midway? First, discuss this with your academic advisor.
Are you sure you want to stop? Follow these steps in Studielink:
- Go to ongoing registrations in Studielink.
- Click on 'Withdraw' to submit a deregistration request.
- Fill out the form. Student Registration will process your deregistration request. For a midterm deregistration, we adhere to the rules outlined in the Higher Education and Scientific Research Act (WHW). Your deregistration will take effect on the first day of the month following the date you wish to terminate your registration. You will receive a confirmation of the termination of your registration from us, along with an explanation of any tuition fee refund.
Please note: if you deregister on or after July 1st, you are no longer entitled to a tuition fee refund.
Terminating your education usually has financial consequences. It is important to consider this carefully. For instance, after deregistration, you are no longer entitled to student finance or the student public transport chip card. More information is available on the DUO website.
Ending your enrolment upon graduation
Once all your results are recorded in Osiris or you have obtained your diploma, you may submit a request for deregistration. You are entitled to deregistration effective from the first day of the month following your graduation date. If you do not deregister, your enrolment will automatically expire on 31 August.
