Exchange students

Students from foreign education institutions with which we have an exchange agreement are welcome at UAS Leiden to participate in our international minors. Next to this, UAS Leiden offers some tailor-made programmes to (Erasmus) exchange students.

International minors

UAS Leiden offers minors in English to (Erasmus) exchange students. In 2013-2014 Hogeschool Leiden offers 4 English minors:

Knowledge of English language

We require from all exchange students that their knowledge of the English language is sufficient.
Sufficient means:

  • an academic IELTS test with an overall band score of at least 6.0 or
  • a TOEFL paper test score of at least 550 or
  • a comparable test score.

How to apply for a minor or tailor-made programme?

You can apply by filling in our application form. After we have received your application, the international coordinator of the programme of your choice will check if you fulfil the requirements and if you can be admitted. If you are admitted you will receive a letter of acceptance from us.

Acculturation and pre-departure Assignments

UAS Leiden has developed a tool to provide exchange students with more in-depth information about studying and living in Leiden and preparing their stay.

Working while studying

If you want to work during your studies in the Netherlands you are allowed to do so. Depending on your nationality you can only do so for a limited amount of hours per week and if the employer has applied for a work permit for you.
If you want to do an internship it is also seen as work, thus certain rules apply.
